Herons Park Care Home – Fire Door Replacement & Remedial Works
We were appointed to carry out vital fire safety improvements at Herons Park Care Home in Kidderminster, focusing on the replacement of door sets and carrying out remedial works to existing doors throughout the building.
Our objective was to bring all relevant fire doors in line with current fire safety legislation and care sector standards, ensuring the safety of residents, staff, and visitors in this busy, live environment.
Scope of Work
- Replacement of Existing Door Sets: Outdated doors were removed and replaced with new fire door sets. These new doors were installed to meet current fire safety standards (including FD30 performance where required), supporting effective compartmentation and safe evacuation in the event of a fire.
- Fire Door Remedial Works: In addition to full replacements, a number of existing doors were retained and brought up to standard through targeted remedial works.
- Fire-Rated Hardware Installation: All new and existing doors were fitted with fire-rated ironmongery, including compliant closers, latches, and hinges. These were selected and installed to maintain the integrity of the fire door assembly and ensure reliable performance.
- Working in a Live Care Environment: As the building remained fully operational throughout the project, our team worked closely with the care home management to minimise disruption. All works were completed with sensitivity to the needs of residents, prioritising cleanliness, professionalism, and safety at every stage.
Outcome
Following the completion of the project, Herons Park Care Home now benefits from a fully compliant set of fire doors, offering improved fire protection and peace of mind for residents and staff alike. The combination of strategic door replacements and remedial upgrades provided a cost-effective and practical approach to fire safety compliance.
